The City of Karratha is seeking an experienced Airport

Operations Team Leader to support the safe, compliant and

efficient operation of Karratha Airport and Roebourne Airstrip.

This is a hands-on operational leadership role for someone who

understands that airside maintenance is inspection-driven, and

who can confidently interpret ATI findings and ARO inspection

oututs to plan, prioritise and schedule maintenance in a live

airport environment. The role also requires a strong customer-

focused approach, acting as the primary operational contact

within the airport precinct.

About the role

Reporting to the Airport Operations & Assets Coordinator, you

will lead and coordinate Airport Reporting Officers (AROs) and

support day-to-day airside operations, asset management and

maintenance planning.

The role acts as the primary operational point of contact within

the airport precinct, managing day-to-day operational enquiries

and issues in a professional, customer-focused manner while

ensuring safety, compliance and operational priorities are

maintained.

Qualifications and requirements

• 5–7 years’ experience in airport operations, including at

least 2 years in a supervisory or team leader role

• Current C-Class driver’s licence

• Ability to obtain and maintain an ASIC

• Aerodrome Reporting Officer (ARO) qualification

(desirable)

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in airport management,

asset management, project management or a related field

(desirable)

Essential skills and experience

• Demonstrated experience planning and scheduling

airside or infrastructure maintenance based on

inspection outputs, including ATI and operational

inspection findings

• Strong understanding of airport operations and

regulatory frameworks, including CASA MOS Part

139

• Proven ability to operate in a customer-facing

operational role, balancing stakeholder needs with

safety, compliance and operational constraints

• Strong IT and systems capability, including Microsoft

Office (particularly Excel) and aviation or asset

management systems such as AVCRM, OneReg or

similar

• High-level administrative and records management

skills with strong attention to detail

• Ability to manage competing priorities in a live

operational environment

• Leadership and personal attributes

• Experience leading or supervising operational staff in

a regulated or safety-critical environment

• Calm, professional communicator with strong

interpersonal skills

• Organised, pragmatic and solutions-focused, with

sound judgement and the ability to work with a high

degree of autonomy
