We are looking for an organised, people‑focused HR & Recruitment Administrator to join our People and Culture team. This role plays a vital part in supporting our purpose of delivering outstanding service by ensuring our people processes are efficient, accurate and responsive.

Reporting to the Talent Acquisition Manager, you will provide high‑quality administrative support across HR and recruitment activities. Your work will help ensure smooth recruitment and onboarding experiences, well‑maintained employee records, and consistent application of HR policies and procedures. You’ll be a key point of contact for HR enquiries, supporting employees and managers with a professional, customer‑centred approach while knowing when to escalate more complex matters.

The role involves co-ordinating recruitment processes from job advertising through to offers and onboarding, preparing employment documentation, setting up new employees in Council systems, and managing pre‑employment checks. You’ll also maintain HR databases and personnel files, assist with reporting and dashboards, support compliance and audit activities, and contribute to internal communications, training co-ordination and HR projects.

We are looking for someone with previous administration/recruitment co-ordination experience, or a similar role, ideally supported by a tertiary qualification in business administration or a related field. Experience working with HR information systems, particularly Dayforce, will be an advantage. You will bring strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. A collaborative working style, confidence using MS Office and document management systems, and a genuine commitment to supporting a positive employee experience are essential.

Rotorua Lakes Council is one of the district’s largest employers and is committed to building a high‑performing, inclusive and safety‑focused workplace.
