Jets Youth Program Officer (Casual)

Banyule Youth Services team are looking to recruit two musically and technically skilled staff with a passion for working with young people and the community to join our youth services team based at Jets studio. Jets is a multi-functional creative youth facility in Bundoora operated by Banyule Youth Services, which hosts weekly youth programs alongside live music events and a range of other activities.

This role can be different each shift - alternating between setting up studios, preparing equipment for events, assisting in studio recordings or operating PA systems, and facilitating programs and youth engagement in communities such as CALD, LGBTIQA+, and all ability programs.

The roles are casual – we can chat about how we can flexibly fit around other work, study, or life commitments.

What you’ll do:

This is a great role for someone building a career in youth work, music, sound engineering or the creative industries who wants hands‑on experience in a professional studio and live event environment. Working under the direction of the Jets Team Leader, you will:

• Support young people of all abilities, backgrounds and identities to participate in weekly programs, events and activities.
• Help set up and pack down studios, backline, equipment and spaces for programs and gigs.
• Assist with live sound – including setting up and operating PA systems, monitors and mixing live music events.
• Assist with studio recording and production for bands and artists.
• Support the safe and smooth running of Jets programs, events and the facility, including duty of care and risk management.
• Help gather feedback, attendance and evaluation information and contribute to basic admin and record-keeping.
• Support and provide guidance to students and volunteers as needed.

What you'll bring/what we are looking for

• Experience working with vulnerable young people in group settings
• Experience in creative industries, live music events, sound engineering etc.
• Demonstrated team skills.
• Demonstrated communication skills.

Pre-employment requirements

• Drivers Licence
• Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
• Working with Children Check
• First Aid Certificate is preferred (or willingness to obtain)

What we offer:

• A casual opportunity – fit around other work, study, or life commitments.
• An hourly rate of $47.03 to $49.71 (including casual loading), plus super.
