What we’re looking for
Essential
Current QLD Light Rigid (LR) licence and ability to travel between work locations
White Card and (or ability to obtain) Working in Proximity to Traffic – Parts 1 & 2
Ability and physical capacity to undertake strenuous labouring tasks in a tropical environment
Experience operating small plant, trucks with trailers and performing daily servicing and safety checks
Good communication skills and basic numeracy
A strong team player who can also work independently with motivation and initiative
Commitment to excellent customer service and working effectively in public spaces
Understanding of WHS and environmental responsibilities in horticultural and landscape maintenance
Desirable
Certificate II in Horticulture (or higher) or equivalent experience
MR licence, ACDC accreditation, or chainsaw certification (or ability to obtain)
Experience with irrigation systems, pest/disease/weed management and use of tablets or smart devices
What you’ll be doing
Maintaining landscaped gardens, lawns, parks, open spaces and roadside areas as part of a scheduled program
Applying horticultural and landscaping skills with a focus on environmental care, productivity and quality
Operating small plant, machinery and vehicles safely and efficiently, including routine servicing checks
Providing friendly and helpful communication to community members and working collaboratively with Council teams
Supporting general depot upkeep and completing corporate recordkeeping in line with Council procedures
Delivering excellent customer service and assisting in resolving community enquiries
Carrying out other duties as required
