The New Zealand Customs Service is seeking a highly organised and proactive Project Coordinator to support the delivery of a significant regulatory change project.


About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

Reporting to the Project Manager, you'll be part of a dynamic, collaborative team and contribute to a high-impact programme of work. The role offers variety, challenge, and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to New Zealand's border and national security. This is a full-time, fixed term position until December 2026.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating meetings, workshops and governance sessions
  • Managing project documentation, registers, and communications
  • Assisting with financial administration and monitoring across cost centres
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders including other agencies and industry partners
  • Providing governance and reporting support

The salary range for this role is $70,827 to $90,788 (prorated).

Desirable qualifications:

  • A relevant qualification in business administration or project coordination (or equivalent experience)

To work for the New Zealand Customs Service, you must meet all the following requirements:

  • Be a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident
  • Living in New Zealand at time of application
  • Have resided continuously in New Zealand for the last 5 years*
  • Successful applicants are also required to pass a drug test and have a clear Police record

*If you are a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided in New Zealand for the last 5 years but have been absent from New Zealand for periods of 6-9 months within the past five years, preferably in one or more of the following countries: either Australia, Canada, UK or the USA then you will be required to provide overseas Police certificates for these periods spent outside of New Zealand.
