Full-Time Temporary Position (38 hours per week)

About the Role

The Safe House Team Leader – Ali Curung provides critical support to women and children affected by domestic, family, and community violence. This role offers comprehensive case management, outreach to at-risk individuals, and leadership of Safe House operations, ensuring 24/7 availability of emergency accommodation.

You will work closely with Safe House Workers, government agencies, and community stakeholders to provide immediate assistance, information, and referrals, while maintaining a safe, supportive, and culturally respectful environment. Flexibility is essential, as the role may include on-call duties and occasional sleepovers, with allowances provided.

The Essentials

  • Demonstrated previous experience running Safe Houses or formal qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, or Community Development.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to quickly establish trust and rapport while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the Privacy Act. Solid understanding of the issues surrounding domestic and family violence.
  • Functional knowledge of the mandatory reporting legislation related to domestic violence and the protection of children.
  • National Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card – Northern Territory).
  • Driver’s Licence

The Finer Details

  • Full-Time Permanent position paying Level 5 Pay Point 1 of the Barkly Regional Council Enterprise Agreement 2024.
  • Annual Salary of $74,485.60 ($2,864.83 gross per fortnight).
  • 12% Superannuation.
  • Annual Leave of 6 weeks paid with 17.5% Leave Loading.

Barkly Regional Council requires that all applicants have a National Criminal History Check. You will be required to provide a recent National Criminal History Check prior to any offer of employment.

Barkly Regional Council requires the applicant to be able to produce or be able to obtain a Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card – Northern Territory) prior to commencement.
