The opportunity

As a School Crossing Supervisor, you’ll provide calm, friendly and reliable supervision at designated school crossings, helping students and pedestrians cross safely while managing traffic flow. This flexible, community focused role where clear communication, safety awareness and punctuality really matter, offers a rewarding way to make a visible difference each day.

What you’ll be doing

School crossings are supervised each morning and afternoon for periods of up to 1 hour, typically between 8am to 9am and between 3pm to 4pm. It is desirable that you are available Monday to Friday during school terms.

Previous experience is not required as you will receive on-the-job training. You must be able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to supervise a crossing in a way that meets the needs of both motorists and pedestrians using the crossings. You will be able to function effectively while working alone. 

What you'll need to succeed

  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Satisfactory National Police check and physical assessment
  • Basic understanding of the Victorian Road Rules
  • Able to work in all weather conditions
  • An ability to communicate with school children and teachers

Pre-Employment Requirements 

Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check, a Pre-Employment Medical Check & a Working With Children Check (WWCC).

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa with full unrestricted working rights. Work eligibility will be checked as part of the recruitment process.
