About the Role

Armidale Regional Council is continuing its Restore & Thrive transformation — lifting governance, strengthening discipline and improving how decisions are made across the organisation.

As Senior Governance Officer, you’ll play a key role in delivering this work. You’ll provide high-quality governance advice, support decision-making at all levels, and help ensure Council operates with clarity, consistency and compliance.

Reporting to the Manager Governance, this role sits at the centre of Council’s governance function — working closely with the Executive, Councillors and staff across the organisation.

What You’ll Do

• Provide high level governance advice and guidance to the Executive Leadership Team and staff to

support sound decision making, legislative compliance and good governance practices.

• Lead the development, review and continuous improvement of Council policies, procedures and

governance frameworks

• Interpret, apply and provide guidance on legislative and regulatory requirements

• coordinate information access and privacy requests in accordance with the Government Information

(Public Access) Act 2009, privacy legislation, and related statutory requirements.

• Contribute to the development, implementation and reporting of Council’s Integrated Planning and

Reporting (IP&R) framework

• Experience in local government or a comparable regulatory environment

• Strong understanding of governance frameworks and legislation

• Excellent writing skills — able to produce reports, policies and advice to a high standard

• Confidence working with senior stakeholders and sensitive matters
