The City of Fremantle is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Recreation and Wellbeing
officer who will lead our strategic recreation planning through collaborative partnerships
and formalised agreements that enhance community outcomes, secure external funding,
strengthen inclusive community clubs, and advance public health priorities. This is a
leadership position which leads the Recreation and Wellbeing team, who work together in
harmony to deliver wellbeing outcomes for our community.
Key responsibilities include:
• Inform strategic recreation planning through needs assessments and report on
participation trends, emerging needs and gaps to enable the team leader to make
evidence-based decision on community facility development.
• Prepare professional reports and presentations for executive / senior management
and on a range of community leisure and recreation planning related topics.
• Seek external grants and partnerships for recreation programs, facilityimprovements and inclusion initiatives that would not otherwise be possible within
operational budgets.
• Build sustainable and inclusive community groups and recreation clubs.
• Increase participation in recreation facilities and programs, ensuring priority
populations needs are addressed
• Provide day-to-day guidance and supervision to the Recreation and Wellbeing Team
through project planning and implementation support, coordinate team workloads,
conduct performance conversations, identify training needs.
To be considered for this position, you will need:
• Demonstrated ability to translate research, data analysis and community
consultation into practical strategies, program designs that respond to
community needs and priorities.
• Project management experience through coordinating timelines, resources,
stakeholders and reporting across multiple initiatives.
• The ability to provide clearly written reports, grant applications &
presentations.
• Stakeholder engagement experience and evidence of building relationships with
clubs, community groups, funding bodies and internal teams.
• Understanding of inclusion principles and ability to design programs accessible
to people of all ages, abilities, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds
• Willingness to undertake National Police Clearance and Working with Children
Check.
