As a local government professional, you use your expertise to shape the systems, policies and services that keep our city moving. You find purpose in your work, knowing that every project and decision improves how the community lives, works and connects.
Join Blacktown City Council at a key stage in shaping the city’s economic future. You lead the development of Council’s Economic Development Strategy, progress the 24-Hour Economy Plan and manage a team that turns research into practical action. Working alongside planning, urban design and heritage professionals, you help Council respond to growth, support local employment and attract investment that benefits the community.
Your week includes analysing economic data, preparing advice for senior leaders and Councillors, meeting with businesses, education providers and government agencies, facilitating workshops and developing funding proposals. You build relationships across Council and with external stakeholders, advocate for government support, oversee projects and coach staff. You balance competing priorities, explain complex issues in plain English and keep work moving within available resources.
Your work helps connect residents to jobs and training, supports local businesses and strengthens opportunities for future investment.
This role suits someone with experience in economic development, planning, policy, urban strategy or consulting who can lead people, build partnerships and deliver practical outcomes.
